All right. So, I am terribly shy when it comes to first posts. I suppose it’s time that I just jumped right in and actually wrote it.

My name is Christie, and I am hopelessly addicted to writing.

I write fiction. A lot of fantasy and science fiction and paranormal (honestly, the “mundane” bores me). My first novel, “This Hippogryph Can’t Fly,” will be released from Virtual Tales in the first half of 2011. It’s a young adult urban fantasy with vampires and gargoyles and zombies (oh, my!). I’m thrilled, to say the least.

I write nonfiction. OK, so maybe the mundane doesn’t bore me. However, I write enough nonfiction that I like to keep it out of my fiction! I write a lot of health pieces, especially stuff about natural health. You can find me on Suite101 and Examiner. (No, really. As in, go check it out–right now! You really need to know about dangers of triclosan and how to use honey as cough medicine! ^_^ )

I am an RN, which can partially explain why I like writing about health. Actually, I have been interested in health writing ever since I was old enough to read a food label, which is why I got into nursing. The chicken really did come before the egg. Or, a dinosaur-y thing that looked like a chicken, anyway.

I am a graduate student. I have returned for my master’s degree in nursing. I am studying to become a nurse practitioner, which means that–when this whole 3-year ordeal is over with–I will be able to diagnose and treat disease. (Fear me!)

I am a teacher’s assistant, and I wield the red pen of death. I am also a research assistant. I think research is really, really cool.
